Exhibition: 19th Century Photographs of Myanmar
Project type
Photo Exhibition
Date
January to February 2014
Location
Yangon, Myanmar
Role
Organiser of the launch event and spokesperson.
The Embassy of Italy in Myanmar and the Yangon Heritage Trust organised the first public event to exhibit a collection of 19th-century photographs of Myanmar from January 21 to February 28, 2014, at the lobby of YHT's office, ideally located in the old centre of the city, in the lower block of Pansodan Street in Yangon. The exhibition displayed nearly 50 photos from the vast collection of Mr. Gilles de Flogny, a passionate French collector. The photographs illustrated the rich retrospective of Myanmar culture and showcased architectural gems, modes of dress, and daily life from a variety of social classes and ethnic communities in the 19th century. As the communication officer of YHT, I led both the organising of the opening event and the promotion of the exhibition.
